Over the next 12 months, she will take part in leadership training, mentoring and a special project focused on strengthening governance at the National Federation level.
Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee (CISNOC) has congratulated Hosking-Ashford.
“A Pacific Mini Games medallist and Pacific Games representative, Davina has given years of service to tennis and to Cook Islands sport. She has grown the game across Rarotonga and the Pa Enua, served on the Oceania Tennis Federation Board, and graduated from the Pacific Women Leaders in Tennis programme.”
Hosking-Ashford said, “This is an opportunity to challenge our governance knowledge, inspire new thinking, and help shape the systems of the future.”
“Good governance is the foundation of everything we want to achieve, from athlete pathways to hosting the 2029 Pacific Mini Games,” CISNOC states.
“Davina joins a proud line of women leading Cook Islands sport, including CISNOC President Luisa Peters, who also leads Cook Islands Weightlifting, Simone Feao with Athletics Cook Islands, and long-serving local and regional sports administrator Makiroa Mitchell with Handball Cook Islands. Many more women serve as board members and administrators across our sporting family.
“CISNOC will stand beside Davina every step of the way. Meitaki maata to the New Zealand Olympic Committee for leading Wāhine Toa Oceania and for its commitment to women's leadership across the Pacific. Kia manuia, Davina. We are proud of you.”CISNOC
