Fever vs. Lynx: The matchup
The Fever enter the first of two end-of-season matchups with the Lynx with a 27-15 record and only two games to play against the WNBA’s Western Conference leader. Indiana trails the Atlanta Dream by 1.5 games at the top of the Eastern Conference after having a three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday with a flat home effort in a 93-77 loss to the Washington Mystics. Clark went for 25 points and five assists, but the WNBA’s best offense made just 37% of its shots from the floor and 21% from 3-point range. Clark got to the free throw line 10 times and made all 10, but was 6-of-20 from the floor and 3-of-10 from long range while committing five turnovers.
Just as the Fever are now pressed to hold onto their No. 2 spot in the East standings in the season’s final week, the Lynx are now just a game ahead of the Golden State Valkyries for the No. 1 spot in the West on the heels of a three-game losing streak that made the West race interesting, with Golden State on a six-game win streak and the Las Vegas Aces on a five-game streak. The Lynx responded last time out with a 101-89 road win over the Connecticut Sun, which was fueled by 23 points from Napheesa Collier and an efficient 21 from Olivia Miles on 7-of-10 shooting with six assists and one turnover.
