The Three Lions’ first game after the 2026 FIFA World Cup will see them face world champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday evening. Here’s how to watch it

A couple of months since heartbreak at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Three Lions are back in action this weekend. An extended international break will see England’s men’s team play Czechia and Croatia – but first up is Spain.

After England crashed out of the World Cup to Argentina, Spain went on to beat Lionel Messi and co in the final and be crowned world champions. In other words, Thomas Tuchel’s squad face a very, very tough task at Wembley on Saturday evening (September 26).

The game kicks off at Wembley Stadium at 7.45pm BST.

Expect it to finish by around 9.30pm, or just after. There won’t be extra time or penalties.

The UEFA Nations League is a competition between European nations. There are three ‘leagues’ (League A, B, C and D), each of which contains four groups (which each have four teams). England are Group 3 in League A.

England will play each member of their group home and away to determine a ranking. The winners and runners-up from the group advance to knockouts: a quarter-final stage, then there’s a semi-final, final and third-place play-off. The reigning Nations League champions from 2025 are Portugal.
