How to watch Sabalenka vs. Pegula US Open women’s semifinals free tonight

QUEENS, N.Y. - Two-time defending champion and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka opposes No. 3 Jessica Pegula in the women’s semifinals at the US Open today – Thursday, Sept. 10 – at Arthur Ashe Stadium in the UTSA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Here’s more information on how to watch the US Open on TV and streaming services.

The US Open women’s semifinals will broadcast live on ESPN and also stream on the ESPN app. Take advantage of free trials from DIRECTV and FuboTV, which also offer large discounts on your first month. You can also watch on Sling TV with Sling Orange daily passes at a low-cost.

What to expect for tonight’s match

Sabalenka is making her sixth straight appearance in the US Open semifinals. The Belarusian powerhouse is two wins away from a 3-peat at the most prestigious event on American soil.

Only four other women have achieved that feat: Serena Willliams (2012-14), Chris Evert (1975-78), Helen Jacobs (1932-1935) and Molla Mallory (1915-18).

As is the norm, Sabalenka has carved her way through into the penultimate match. She dropped her first set of the tournament in the quarterfinals against Linda Noskova, with the match extending to a third-set tiebreak.

After dropping only one set through the first four rounds, Pegula rallied from losing the opening set to defeat Emma Navarro in the quarterfinals, setting up the all-too familiar encounter with the feisty Belarusian.

Sabalenka and Pegula have faced each other 13 times, with the Belarusian emerging victorious over her American counterpart nine times, including six times on hard courts. It marks the third consecutive year the two have met in the semifinals or beyond at the US Open. Sabalenka won last year’s encounter 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and polished up a straight-set victory in 2024.

In their latest match, Pegula triumphed with a three-set victory at the Berlin Tennis Open. Each of their last three encounters have reached the third set. The 32-year-old has reached the quarterfinals or further in three Grand Slams this year, but has never won the elusive title.

Sabalenka remains the classic roadblock that continues to plague Pegula. Will the 32-year-old finally find a way around the top seed at the US Open?
