Hurstville Zagreb and Glenorchy Knights have this week both appointed Australian Croatian senior coaches for next season.

On Tuesday evening, Glenorchy Knights announced the appointment of club stalwart Robi Bolonja as its NPL Men’s Senior Head Coach for 2027.

The Knights made the announcement on their official Facebook page, stating that Bolonja brings a wealth of experience, passion and knowledge to the role.

“We’re very excited to have him leading our NPL squad into the new season,” commented the post.

“We look forward to seeing Robi and the team build on the foundations already in place and represent the Knights with pride in 2027.”

The Knights’ senior Men’s team had a disappointing season in this year’s NPL Tasmania competition.

Despite concluding this year’s campaign well clear of the relegation zone, the Knights only managed to capture 17 points from their 18 league games.

Finishing in third last position, the proud Hobart club is keen to return to the top of the Apple Isle’s elite division in 2027.

Bolonja performed the role of the club’s Junior and Youth Technical Director in 2026 and was the Senior team’s interim coach for the tail end of the 2026 season. His appointment by the club has made that role permanent.

Speaking to the Hrvatski Vjesnik, following his appointment, Bolonja made it clear he was eager to start preparations for a big 2027.

“I’m looking forward to getting started with the team as soon as possible and getting the Knights back to where we belong. At the top of the competition!” he exclaimed.

A day later, NSW League 1 side Hurstville Zagreb FC proudly announced the appointment of Steve Zorić as their new First Grade Head Coach, also on their official Facebook page.

“Steve has previously represented Zagreb as a player, captain and coach before going on to gain valuable experience across the NPL Men’s space, including recent Head Coaching roles at Rockdale Ilinden and Sutherland Sharks,” stated the social media post by the Club.

Zagreb had a solid year first up in the Football NSW League One competition this year, after earning promotion from League Two the previous season.

The club captured 35 points from their 30 games, to finish a credible 10th position on the standings at season’s end.

Joining Zorić as his assistant next year will be Gary Deprato, who is another familiar face at Hurstville Zagreb.

“Gary is a former First Grade player who enjoyed many successful years representing the club,” stated Zagreb’s Facebook post.

“Both Steve and Gary understand what this club and community represent, and we couldn’t be more delighted to welcome them back to Zagreb.

“This is a strong appointment for our club, and we look forward to seeing them lead our First Grade side into the next chapter,” concluded Zagreb Hurstville’s social media post.
