'I know for sure': Evan Turner says what he's hearing about Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown is not true at all

There’s some new information coming about Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown every day from people who have worked with them amid their feud.

The two players were heroes to many when they played together for the Boston Celtics and helped them win the 2024 NBA Championship.

However, since Brown left the Celtics earlier this year, some animosity seems to have developed between the two players, so much so that there have been claims that they were never really friends.

However, former Boston Celtics assistant coach Evan Turner has debunked those rumours.

Turner worked with both Brown and Tatum when he was a member of Brad Stevens’ coaching group in the 2020-21 season.

The now 38-year-old worked as an assistant coach and player development coach during his time there, years after becoming popular as a player in Boston.

Turner has now had his say on the feud between Tatum and Brown, and he is not ready to accept rumours saying they were never friends and had no respect for each other.

He said on the Open Floor NBA Talk show: “The thing of them saying they were never really friends is crazy because I know for sure they had the utmost respect for each other.

“At least when I was around, when you walk in, when they look around, I’ve watched JT walk up to JB and shake his hand. I watched JT do the vice versa… There’s no real beef here. There’s no real foundational beef that I thought of and no structural beef.

“It’s just two alphas walking on a different path in the same Serengeti. I watched them come up and show each other respect. This whole thing that they were never really friends, I don’t really see it.”

Turner was only a coach with the Boston Celtics in the 2020-21 season, so there is a chance that whatever ‘beef’ Tatum and Brown have now developed could have developed a lot later.

What is clear, though, is that this is just sad to see, especially as they will be remembered for this feud rather than the great time they had together in the championship-winning season.

We’re sure there will be more drama in the coming days, as the Celtics are set to face the 76ers on November 10. All eyes will be on Brown and Tatum in the buildup and during the game.
