Ilia Topuria’s brother Aleksandre set for return as UFC Doha matchup is confirmed

Aleksandre Topuria is set to continue his UFC career this coming November.
The Georgian 30-year-old hasn’t competed since last November when he took on Bekzat Almakhan in Qatar on the undercard of Arman Tsarukyan vs. Dan Hooker.
Since that time, he put his career on hold to help his younger brother, Ilia Topuria, prepare for his UFC Freedom 250 clash against Justin Gaethje.
And he ended up playing a big part in that fight as he was the one who stopped Topuria from going out into round five.
Doha in Qatar has seemingly become one of the locations the promotion goes to annually, and they are set to return to the Middle East in November.
And with that, it has been confirmed by X account, Pelunaton, that Aleksandre Topuria will compete on the card, taking on 8-1 Mexican contender, Santiago Luna.
‘Border Boy’ has fought under the UFC banner three times since signing back in 2025, winning on two occasions while losing his latest fight against Bryce Mitchell this past June.
UFC Qatar is set to take place on November 21 and this is the first fight that has been confirmed to be taking place on the card so far.
Just a month before UFC Qatar is slated to go down, the promotion is set to return to Abu Dhabi for UFC 333, with a lot of the fighters on that card being fighters who would have likely competed in Doha.
Someone who has recently been campaigning for his return to the sport is former middleweight champion, Khamzat Chimaev.
‘Borz’ was originally calling for an immediate rematch against Sean Strickland, but with the UFC now planning on making Strickland vs. Nassourdine Imavov, Chimaev is open to other options.
The Chechen is hopeful of returning to the Octagon before the end of the year and he has given the UFC an ultimatum that if they don’t book him before the end of the year, he is taking a break from fighting.
