Impressive debut in the ring for Bideford boxer Ollie Layton

Bideford ABC welcome Ollie Layton to the boxing ranks
Impressive debut in the ring for Bideford boxer Ollie Layton

Bideford Amateur Boxing Club's Ollie Layton made a sensational start to his boxing career with an impressive stoppage victory on his debut in Plymouth.

Taking on Mayflowers' Max Mansfield, Layton produced a confident and determined performance in a contest that began at a frantic pace, with both boxers happy to stand toe-to-toe and trade punches.

However, it was Layton who began to get the better of the exchanges, showing impressive composure and accuracy as the opening exchanges unfolded.

As the fight progressed, the pace settled and Layton began to find his range, picking off his opponent with some clean, well-timed shots from the jab.

A sharp right cross forced Mansfield to take a standing count, and Layton immediately sensed his opportunity. Stepping forward, he unleashed another powerful combination, finishing with a left hook that visibly rocked Mansfield.

With the referee stepping in to stop the contest, Layton was deservedly announced as the winner by technical knockout (TKO), marking an outstanding debut for the Bideford youngster.

It was an impressive introduction to the sport and a performance that will give both Layton and Bideford Amateur Boxing Club plenty of encouragement for the future.
