The match has to start by 1.47... else, it’s called off - Shayan Acharya
The umpires inspected the pitch and there’s quite a bit of waterlogging near the 30 yard circle, so it’s going to take a long time for the surface to dry up.
And adding to the woes, the skies have gone dark again. So, things don’t look too bright at this point in time.
Nothing much has changed. The intensity is still the same, but it’s still raining - Shayan Acharya.
Here's the summary of last hour or so from Rajkot
And what can be expected in the next hour.
Steady rain continues in Rajkot. We are in for a long delay today.
I bumped into Neel Patel’s father Puneet, and he was excited to watch his son play at ‘home ground’. Puneet, originally from Ahmedabad, moved to Sydney at the age of 22. He played for Gujarat College and also for ONGC, before moving out of the country. Now that his son is representing Australia, he is excited. “We just hope there’s some game today...” he said. -- Shayan Acharya
Parents of Australian cricketers are here
Quite a few parents have travelled from Australia to support their wards, but it has been a long day of wait - Shayan
“The rain has intensified. The players are indoors,” Shayan says.
“Steady shower; Pitch covered. Things not looking bright in Rajkot,” pings Shayan.
“Rain is in the forecast for the day, so it’s going to be a long day for the ground staff,” he adds.
