India Full Squad, Asian Games 2026: The Asian Games 2026 will bring together athletes from 45 countries and regions across 43 sports in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan. For India, the Games represent another major opportunity to strengthen its position as one of Asia’s leading sporting nations. The country created history at Hangzhou 2023 by winning 107 medals — 28 gold, 38 silver and 41 bronze, its best-ever medal haul at the Asian Games.

India will enter the 2026 edition with several high-profile names capable of challenging for medals across multiple disciplines. Five individual Olympic medallists — PV Sindhu, Manu Bhaker, Lovlina Borgohain, Aman Sehrawat and Mirabai Chanu — are part of the contingent. However, one notable absentee will be Olympic and world champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who has withdrawn from the Games after an ankle injury.

The Indian squad also features defending Asian Games champions in cricket, with Shreyas Iyer set to captain the men’s T20 side and Harmanpreet Kaur leading the women’s team. Teenage batting prospect Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is another name attracting considerable attention.

Hockey will carry additional importance in Japan, as both the men’s and women’s competitions will have a direct bearing on qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The Asian Games hockey champions will secure direct qualification for LA 2028.

India’s preparations have not been without setbacks. There have been changes to the contingent because of doping violations, injuries and selection criteria. Wrestlers Mukul Dahiya and Deepanshu were removed from the squad following doping-related violations, while shooter Gaurav Kumar Masoori was also dropped and replaced by Akash Bharadwaj. India’s show-jumping team was excluded after failing to satisfy the Sports Ministry’s selection requirements.

The women’s cricket squad also underwent a late change after Jemimah Rodrigues suffered a hamstring injury during her stint in The Hundred. She was replaced by Pratika Rawal.

Despite these changes, India’s contingent remains packed with medal hopefuls and experienced competitors.

India will take a large and star-studded contingent to the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, with athletes competing across a wide range of sports and disciplines. From Olympic medallists such as Manu Bhaker, PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain, Mirabai Chanu and Aman Sehrawat to established Asian Games performers and emerging youngsters, Team India will have representation across individual, team, relay, mixed and weight-category events.

Here is the complete sport-wise Indian squad, with each athlete’s event, category or discipline specified.

One of the biggest talking points surrounding India’s contingent is the absence of Neeraj Chopra. The Olympic and world champion javelin thrower was expected to be among the headline attractions at the Games but withdrew after an ankle injury.

His absence removes one of India’s most dependable gold-medal prospects. Nevertheless, the squad has enough depth and star power to mount another serious challenge across the medal table.

Note: The Indian contingent and individual entries may undergo further changes before the Asian Games 2026 due to injuries, eligibility, selection decisions or other circumstances.
