‘Insufferable’ – Angel Reese receives fan hate for arguing with referee in Dream’s WNBA Finals loss

Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese had a rough time dealing with the referees and the physicality of the Golden State Valkyries in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals.
Reese could not keep her Finals double-double streak alive with eight points and nine rebounds on 2-for-12 field goal shooting, and the Dream could not hold on to home-court advantage and lost Game 4 67-62.
While Reese was receiving a lot of love as the frontrunner to win WNBA Finals MVP when the team held a 2-1 series lead, the sentiment around her seems to have shifted after her actions in the Game 4 loss.
Reese confronted WNBA referees on the court at the end of the first half, clearly frustrated at the physicality with which the Valkyries played.
Reese’s behaviour with the referee prompted many angry fan reactions, as they questioned why she was not penalised with a technical foul as many of her peers have been.
“Angel Reese is an insufferable child,” complained one fan.
“She behaves that way because she knows there won’t be any consequences,” said another fan.
“She acts like a person who has been told her entire life that she is really special, she’s good. Not special,” said an angry fan.

“That clapping by Reese in the ref’s face should have been an instant technical foul. No excuse,” is what another fan had to say.
“I know Caitlin does this as well, but damn this —- is childish. All of them need techs called,” said another fan.
The Dream received 31 free throw attempts compared to the Valkyries 13 in this game. The Dream would argue they deserved many more during the contest due to their inside-heavy offence and the physicality which was used to guard them.
Reese only shot six free throws the entire game, so she potentially had some justified reasons to be frustrated with the officiating. Nonetheless, it was a bad look for her to lose her temper at the officials in such a visible moment of the game.
