International MMA tournament held at Tashir Arena: Armenia vs. the World

A major international mixed martial arts (MMA) event was held at Tashir Arena on September 26. ARMAT Fight Show (AFS) and ORION Fight Club (OFC) joined forces to give some of Armenia’s most promising young MMA ath- letes an opportunity to take the next step in their profes- sional careers. The tournament is built around an ambitious con- cept: matching Armenia’s top young fighters against strong opponents from dif- ferent countries. The par- ticipants include not only a new generation of Armenian MMA fighters but also ath- letes with extensive experi- ence and championship titles. Armenian athletes faced competitors from Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uz- bekistan, Iran and other countries. The organizers say the tournament will become a re- curring event. Their goal is to create a system in which Ar- menian athletes can compete regularly, gain experience against strong international opponents and develop their professional careers without constantly having to seek op- portunities outside Armenia.
