Ireland and Lions legend cited for alleged genital grabbing in URC clash

Leinster and Ireland prop Tadhg Furlong has been formally cited following an incident that took place in the 37th minute of the United Rugby Championship Round 4 match at the Aviva Stadium against Munster Rugby on Saturday, 24 October.
The appointed Citing Commissioner has lodged a complaint regarding an act of foul play by the Player (Tadhg Furlong No 3) involving opponent Gavin Coombes (No 8).
The Player faces charges under Law 9.27 – A player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship, including but not limited to grabbing, twisting or squeezing the genitals.
Should a player be found guilty of breaching Law 9.27 at a disciplinary hearing, they risk being sidelined not only for the Six Nations but potentially for next year's World Cup as well.
World Rugby categorises genital grabbing as serious foul play, placing it alongside offences such as biting and eye gouging in terms of severity, reports the Irish Mirror.
Incidents are classified as either top-end, mid-range or low-end, attracting sanctions of 6-96+ weeks, 4-48 weeks and 2-24 weeks respectively.
Details of the disciplinary proceedings are currently being finalised and will be confirmed in due course.
