Israel Adesanya is training with Alexander Volkanovski and Mauricio Ruffy after City Kickboxing exit

A new chapter will start late into the career of ‘The Last Stylebender’.

The former two-time UFC middleweight champion has fallen on hard times inside the Octagon, where he has not had his hand raised in over three years.

Despite a four-fight losing skid that most recently saw Adesanya knocked out by Joe Pyfer at UFC Seattle in March, the Nigerian-New Zealander is not hanging up his gloves.

Instead of calling it quits, Adesanya is looking to rejuvenate himself with a change of training scenery, and his new team may have just been revealed.

'The Last Stylebender' refused to retire after suffering his fourth straight loss at UFC Seattle.

Before being finished in round two by Pyfer earlier this year, Adesanya had been KO’d by Nassourdine Imavov in 2025, submitted by Dricus du Plessis in 2024, and outpointed by Sean Strickland in 2023.

‘The Last Stylebender’ has faced plenty of calls to retire, having not won a fight since his revenge on Alex Pereira to become a two-time king at 185 pounds at UFC 287 in Miami.

Adesanya instead left City Kickboxing and will attempt to return to winning ways with the help of new personnel behind the scenes.

And after his nutritionist hinted at another fight camp kicking off soon, the legendary middleweight recently went through the doors at a new gym.

In a recent post on social media, Mauricio Ruffy showed Adesanya arriving to train at Sydney’s Freestyle MMA Performance Centre, which is also the home of UFC featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski.

Ruffy left the Fighting Nerds to train alongside Volkanovski after suffering the first loss of his UFC career against Benoit Saint-Denis 12 months ago.

The Brazilian has since won two straight fights, most recently at UFC Freedom 250, where Ruffy knocked out Michael Chandler to secure a likely title eliminator against Arman Tsarukyan on September 19.

Adesanya will hope for the same bounce-back streak, having touched down in Australia to train with a man he is very familiar with.

Volkanovski has frequently traveled to CKB in Auckland, where he has spent time on the mats with ‘The Last Stylebender’, Dan Hooker, and more big names.
