‘It feels…’ James Tarkowski opens up on the mood around the Everton camp

Everton have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.
David Moyes’ side lost 2-0 to Arsenal at the weekend, which followed the same scoreline against Chelsea the week before.
Everton fans have been very critical of Moyes’ team selections this season as they feel he’s not giving the youngsters a proper chance, most notably Tyler Dibling.
So, there is a bit of pressure on the Toffees boss to bounce back with a win in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United on Thursday evening.
Ahead of the clash, James Tarkowski has opened up about the mood around Finch Farm.
Speaking to Everton’s website, Tarkowski explained the squad feel in a bit of a rut at the moment, and they need to get out of it quickly.
“We’ve got to demand (we don’t feel sorry for ourselves),” the 33-year-old stated.
“The squad is small, so it’s only us who can go out on that pitch and play. It’s good for the lads because you know you’re going to get plenty of minutes at the moment.
“We need to start picking up results. Even though we won against Ipswich, it feels, not like a slump, but it feels like we need to work our way out of this.
“It’s a big game on Thursday in the cup that we’re looking forward to.”
Victory against Newcastle would see Everton advance to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup for the second time in three years.
It feels like there is a genuine opportunity to win the competition this year, and it’s probably the club’s best route to European football.
Moyes is expected to name a strong starting line-up, with potentially just three changes from the Arsenal clash.
Dibling will surely get a chance to impress from the first whistle, having looked good in his cameo appearances this term.
