‘It’s a little strange’... Khamzat Chimaev leaks Sean Strickland’s next opponent after being snubbed

Khamzat Chimaev has been snubbed by the UFC despite his continuous campaign for a title rematch.
This past May, Khamzat Chimaev suffered one of the biggest shock losses of the year when he lost his title against Sean Strickland.
Almost immediately after the fight, information came out of Chimaev’s camp that he suffered an extremely brutal weight cut, which could’ve played a part in his loss.
And because of his weight problems leading into that fight, ‘Borz’ was hopeful of receiving an immediate rematch, but he seems to have now been officially snubbed.
This past August, Chimaev sent a defiant message to his UFC boss, Dana White, asking him what they are waiting for as he wants to return to action.
That then coincided with Nassourdine Imavov claiming that he had been given a date by the UFC for his long-awaited title fight against Strickland.
And now, Chimaev has confirmed that he has been snubbed and won’t be fighting for the title next as he didn’t want to wait for Strickland to return.
“It’s a little strange,” Chimaev said during an interaction with Adam Zubayraev.
“So far they haven’t called me, nothing like that yet. I asked them, I want to fight in Abu Dhabi, they said I’m not asking for a title fight. I knew Strickland wasn’t coming to Abu Dhabi. I said I just don’t want to wait one or two years for him to recover.
“As soon as I said that, they gave Imavov the fight. I don’t know exactly how official it is but they’re giving him the fight. If they give it to him then they give it to him.
“I said give me someone to fight, let me make some money and get my belt back as soon as possible,” he continued.
Chimaev is hopeful of fighting in Abu Dhabi at UFC 333, with 10 fights already confirmed for that card, which is stacked from top to bottom.
At this point, it is unclear whether the promotion is on the same page as him and whether they will turn him around that quickly.
