'It's been real': Wallabies star's no-fuss retirement

Andrew Kellaway won't get the chance to reach 50 caps for the Wallabies after announcing his rugby retirement one Test short of the milestone.
'It's been real': Wallabies star's no-fuss retirement

Former Wallabies fullback/winger Andrew Kellaway has retired in a no-fuss manner, turning to social media to announce he is walking away from the game he loves.

Kellaway played 49 Tests for the Wallabies between 2021 to 2025, including the 2023 World Cup in which Australia bombed out in the pool stage under coach Eddie Jones.

The 31-year-old's last appearance for the Wallabies came against Ireland in November, 2025, and he spent the past two Super Rugby seasons at the Waratahs.

Despite Australia hosting next year's World Cup, Kellaway has decided to call it a day.

"Closing the curtain on 12 incredible years. Special people, special places and lots to remember," Kellaway wrote on Instagram.

"Big thank you to everyone who supported along the way and those that played a part. It's been real."

Kellaway started his Super Rugby career at the Waratahs. He then spent a four-year stint at the now-defunct Melbourne Rebels before returning to NSW in 2025.

His two-year deal with the Waratahs and Rugby Australia expired at the end of 2026, with Kellaway's retirement announcement on Sunday night coming on the eve of his 31st birthday.
