Jack Butland reacts as Rangers weather storm in 4-0 win vs St Johnstone

Rangers produced a ruthless team performance at Ibrox on Saturday (24 October), brushing aside St Johnstone despite severe weather conditions battering the Glasgow turf.
As Storm Boelo swept across central Scotland, torrential rain poured down throughout the 90 minutes, but Derek McInnes’ side refused to let the elements disrupt their momentum. The Light Blues put on a dominant show for the home support, with Kevin Kelsy netting a fine double alongside strikes from Ryan Naderi and Tochi Chukwuani.
Minsu Kim delivered a man of the match worthy performance on the left flank, running riot through the Saints’ backline to anchor a thoroughly deserved 4-0 victory. The South Korea international was involved in three of those goals.
The comfortable triumph ensured Rangers bounced back in style from last weekend’s frustrating 2-2 draw against Dundee at Dens Park. More importantly, the result extended the team’s impressive form, stretching their unbeaten run to nine games across all competitions under McInnes.
The emphatic response on the pitch caught the attention of fans, pundits, and even former players alike online. Former Gers goalkeeper Jack Butland was among those delighted by the result from afar, despite no longer being directly associated with the club following his summer move to Hull City.
Following the final whistle, the official Rangers Instagram page posted a graphic celebrating the four-goal display and clean sheet. Spotting the update on his feed, Butland was quick to double-tap and ‘like’ the post, showing that his personal affinity for the Ibrox side remains as strong as ever despite settling into life in the Premier League.
He was not the only notable name showing support either. Mohamed Diomande also dropped his ‘like’ on the official post, joining thousands of supporters in celebrating another crucial three points on home soil.
For the Ibrox faithful, seeing former key figures like Butland continue to follow the club’s progress from afar serves as a testament to the strong culture built inside the dressing room, as Rangers maintain their relentless push at the top of the table.
McInnes‘ side are now just a point behind Celtic. However, with the Hoops facing Hibernian on Sunday (25 October), they could reinstate their four-point lead with another win.
