Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have made some questionable decisions in the past, but he's also made some right moves he deserves credit for.
One of them was taking a chance on George Pickens, who has now proven over the past year and a half that he's arguably one of the best 10 to 15 receivers in this league.
Pickens has done nothing but succeed at a very high level since joining Dallas, even if his contract situation raises questions about his future. As for some of the other moves Jones has made, there's a new one everybody is hoping will pay off. The Cowboys recently traded for Joey Porter Jr. of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to the latest report, there's hope and expectation that Porter is going to have a similar level of success as Pickens has in Dallas.
“Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on [1053thefan] said he's hoping the trade for CB Jerry Porter Jr. can have similar results as the George Pickens trade. ‘That's pretty high expectations, but you have to have them to make a deal like this,” Jon Machota wrote on X.
The Cowboys’ defense certainly needs a lot of help, so Porter coming in and being the type of player that he can be can change a lot for this defense.
Not to say the Cowboys’ defense is one player away from being above average, but if things go as well as they can, there's reason to believe Porter will be a major difference-maker.
It's tough to say he'll do what Pickens does because he plays a completely different position, but he's an elite talent and will be needed for Dallas to be the team it wants to be.
