Kangaroos star Jack Bostock forced to dodge a bird during live TV interview

Kangaroos winger Jack Bostock has been forced to duck for cover as a bird interrupted his interview with Channel 7 on Monday night.

The breakout star is officially a free agent and is arguably one of the hottest names on the market.

He was naturally asked about his future, but was in the process of deflecting the question when the bird had another ideas.

“I don’t know mate, you say it’s cliche but it’s just the truth, I’m not too sure yet,” he told The Agenda Setters: Rugby League.

“I don’t know if you’ve played World Cup footy but there’s a lot on the line ...”

That’s when he had to take immediate cover before breaking out in laughter.

“And it’s probably a bit a bit more important than sorting out a contract at the moment. So once the World Cup’s done, I’ll have it all sorted,” he added before turning his attention back to the bird.

“Did you guys see that bird,” he asked the studio.

Corey Parker immediately chimed in, praising the Aussie’s evasiveness.

“Sharp reflexes mate, good prep,” he said.

After scoring his second World Cup hat-trick in Saturday’s 66-6 win over Cook Islands, the former St George Illawarra junior said “it is not set in stone” that he would leave the Dolphins in 2028.

Australia fullback Reece Walsh, who was standing near Bostock for the interview, joked that his Kangaroos teammate was “going to get a lot of cash” for his next deal.

“I’m not too sure. It probably won’t be half of what Reece gets,” Bostock quipped.

He was then asked about reports linking him to a return south to either the Dragons or Cronulla.

“There have been so many stories all week, but it is definitely not 100 per cent set in stone coming to Sydney,” he said.

“So I am not sure where that has come from. I have spoken to the Dolphins a couple of weeks ago and said I did want to see my options and what I could do.

“It is definitely not set in stone that I am leaving the Dolphins. It is just a matter of going through the processes.”

Looking ahead to Sunday’s blockbuster against Samoa, Bostock said it will be a tough game.

“We’re going to have to bring that sort of same attitude we did to the Kiwis game in round one. But I feel like a good week here and the boys will be up for it,” he said on The Agenda Setters.

“They’re a great team. I’ve obviously played with a couple of them back at club land and then even last night when Chanel Harris-Tavita done his hamstring kick in the goal there, that was sad to see. But then Ronald Volkman came on and really injected himself into the game and played well.

“So I’m sure that’s the sort of outfit that I’ll be looking to come with and for me myself, it’s a pretty good edge that I’m coming up against.

“Bizz (Brian To’o) is obviously going to be there and Stephen Crichton’s there which have both been around the game for a long time. Both great players.

“So for myself and just a team point of view, we obviously know they have a lot of talent all around the park. So we’re just going to have to show up and still play our style of footy, not get caught into anything different.

“Play the Australian style of footy and we’ll see who comes out on top.”
