Karachi Green grab Mehran Cup boxing title

LAHORE - Karachi Green won the Mehran Cup Sindh Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championship with six gold medals, while Karachi Whites finished runners-up with three golds. Organised by the Sindh Boxing Association with the Sindh Sports Department’s support, the three-day championship was held at Ustad Ali Muhammad Qambrani Boxing Stadium, Kakkri Ground, Lyari, featuring more than 150 boxers and officials from across the province, including Sindh Police. Director Sports to Commissioner Karachi Ghulam Muhammad Khan distributed medals and certificates at the closing ceremony.

He praised the organizers and said the Sindh Sports Department was promoting sports in collaboration with all provincial associations.

Mirpur Khas and Sindh Police secured one gold each to finish third and fourth, respectively, while Hyderabad Division received the Best Discipline Trophy. Gold, silver and bronze medallists will receive Rs30,000, Rs20,000 and Rs5,000, respectively.

Among the men’s winners were Karachi Green’s Junaid Ali, Ghazi Khan, Rehan Khan, Mujahid Afridi and Faqir Muhammad, while Karachi Whites’ Zakaria and Mirpur Khas’ Hafeez also claimed gold in their respective finals. Women’s gold medallists included Qurrat-ul-Ain, Khizra and Zainab Qureshi.
