Katie Taylor is aiming to conclude her remarkable career with one final triumph on the grandest stage imaginable. The 40-year-old has long harboured ambitions of competing at Croke Park, and that dream is now set to become reality before a crowd exceeding 80,000 spectators.
She takes on France's Flora Pili with the chance to claim a third undisputed world championship. Taylor's WBA, WBO and IBF super-lightweight world titles are at stake, alongside the vacant WBC belt and Pili's IBO title. Taylor is set to pocket a minimum of £2.5million (€3m) from the bout, which headlines a nine-fight card.
This figure is notably less than the £6.6m (€7.7m) she reportedly received for her last appearance - a trilogy encounter with Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden last summer.
Several elements determine the payment, with Netflix having broadcast her most recent two fights, while the costs associated with securing Croke Park, staging the event and hiring personnel are substantially greater.
Saturday's showdown will represent the first boxing match held at the venue since 1952, when Muhammad Ali famously defeated Al "Blue" Lewis on that memorable evening.
"I have a very tough challenger in front of me but I've built a reputation of always taking the tough fights and why make my last fight any different," Taylor stated at Friday's weigh-in.

"This is a very tough challenge, I have no doubt, but this is what I was born for, this is what I'm made for. God has put this gift in me since I was a kid, I have one last time to go in there and just display the gift that God has put in me. What a privilege!"
She continued: "I've been dreaming about this for the last few years and we're one day away from making this fight happen and one day away from ending my career at my dream venue," Taylor remarked.
"I can't wait to step in there. I've been saying it for the last few months that I want to put on a performance worthy of everyone's support over these last few years.
"I'm just so grateful for an amazing last few years in the ring."
