Khamzat Chimaev’s return event undergoes late change after intense first faceoff with Tyron Woodley

Khamzat Chimaev’s second RAF match is still going ahead despite moving venues.

Chimaev seems to be happy to wait for another shot at the UFC title, with his main focus being on staying active instead.

The former middleweight champion’s recent social media posts led to an exchange between Chimaev and Caio Borralho to seemingly set up a fight.

‘Borz’ may have found a willing dance partner for his return to the Octagon, but he’ll be preoccupied for the time being due to the main event match taking place on Saturday.

On September 5, Khamzat Chimaev faces Tyron Woodley in the main event of RAF Moscow in the current UFC star’s second match for the promotion.

Woodley defeated Joaquin Buckley last month to give him some extra momentum for this huge clash between former UFC champions.

The two men brought the intensity during their first faceoff before news came out regarding the venue that they will be headlining on Saturday night.

Real American Freestyle announced earlier today that their debut event in Russia has been moved from the VTB Arena to Arena Mytishchi just two days before it gets underway.

Khamzat Chimaev and Tyron Woodley go face-to-face for the first time, having an intense faceoff ahead of their wrestling match this Saturday at RAF Moscow. 🇷🇺

There were some concerns regarding the Chimaev-headlined event due to the original choice of venue.

ESPN reported several weeks ago that holding RAF: Moscow at the VTB Arena could be in violation of United States sanctions against Russia, which would impact the promotion being able to air the card on FOX Nation.

It was not clarified in the announcement whether this event, which also features the likes of Bo Nickal and Jordan Burroughs, was moved to a new location for this exact reason.

RAF stated that existing ticket holders will receive information directly from the original venue, with instructions on how to update their tickets.

Chimaev is already booked to face Gilbert Burns at RAF 13 in what will be his second match of the month, with the event being set for September 18 in Miami.
