‘Kicked us out’- Kadarius Toney slams NCAA after being ejected with 1-year-old son

Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney has criticised the NCAA after claiming he and his one-year-old son were kicked out of a game over sideline access.

The two-time Super Bowl champion shared his frustration on Instagram, questioning why his toddler was not allowed to remain with him despite his claim that he had a sideline pass.

Toney did not identify the game he attended, leaving it unclear which institution’s access rules were involved.

In his Instagram story, Toney accused the NCAA of treating him unfairly and expressed frustration at being removed alongside his young son.

“@ncaa K**** a*……..kicked us out the game talm bout my son Kant be on the sideline……when I [clearly] gotta sideline pass ….we talkin about a 1 yr old here🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥…..::and y’all wonder why ion f* m**”

However, sideline credentials do not necessarily allow children of every age to enter restricted areas. It is also unclear whether Toney had secured a pass for his son or only for himself.

The 2025-26 SEC Commissioner’s Regulations state that non-working personnel inside the team bench area should be at least 10 years old, while working personnel outside that area should be at least 16.

Individual institutions can also impose their own restrictions. LSU requires anyone in the team bench area to be at least 10, while Georgia Southern’s media policy prohibits sideline credentials for anyone under 18.

Florida, Toney’s alma mater, has similar age requirements. With his son just one year old, the toddler would fall below the minimum age under each of those policies.

Toney is not the first football player to complain about being prevented from bringing a child onto the field. Former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Chris McCain described a similar incident at Gillette Stadium in 2017, when a security guard stopped him from taking a child onto the field without the required credentials.

The controversy comes after a turbulent period in Toney’s football career. The New York Giants selected him 20th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft before trading him to Kansas City in 2022.

He helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVII, recording a touchdown reception and a 65-yard punt return against the Philadelphia Eagles. Toney later joined the Cleveland Browns, who waived him in 2024, and he has been away from the NFL since.

Toney has maintained that he is not finished playing football. For now, however, his latest public dispute centres on a sideline policy rather than a potential return to the league.
