Liverpool's Colombian winger Luis Diaz, who suffered a knee injury in the defeat to Arsenal, will not return to action until after next month's World Cup in Qatar.

The winger was injured in the Premier League clash that his Liverpool side lost to Arsenal on Sunday. The image of Jurgen Klopp consoling him as he left the field was evidence that it could be a serious injury.

Diaz will be out for six to eight weeks and will not return until after the World Cup in Qatar, in which his national team, Colombia, will not participate as they have not qualified.

The good news for the player from Barrancas is that his knee injury will not require surgery for a full recovery.

The defeat against Arsenal has further solidified beliefs that Liverpool are not going to have any part to play in the Premier League title race this season. In contracts, Arsenal fans are starting to believe that with each passing week, they could be involved in the title race for a long time.

The 3-2 loss on Sunday did not come without controversy as Liverpool could have been awarded a penalty in the first half for a handball by Gabriel. Arsenal then received one themselves for a challenge that many felt was not worthy of a spot kick.
