Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Litton Das created history during the one-off Test match against Afghanistan, which took place from October 9 to 13 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. While the match ended in a draw, the veteran cricketer produced a memorable performance with both bat and gloves.
The 32-year-old scored a knock of 53 in the first innings and backed it up with a century in the second outing. Meanwhile, he took four catches and completed a stumping in the first innings. He also took four catches in the second innings and ended the match with nine dismissals.

As a result, Das has become the first player in Test cricket history to score a century and a half-century in the match and also be involved in nine dismissals. The previous best effort was South Africa's Denis Lindsay, who held the record for 60 years.
No other player has made 150 combined runs in a match and been part of nine dismissals on the field in a Test match before. Meanwhile, among players to be involved in nine or more fielding dismissals in a match, the record for the most runs in a match was previously held by Jonny Bairstow, who was involved in eight dismissals. The Englishman set the record against Sri Lanka in Leeds in 2016 when he made a knock of 140 in the first innings. However, he did not get a chance to bat in the second innings.
This also set the record for the most fielding dismissals by a Bangladesh player in a Test match. He broke a record of Khaled Mahmud, who was involved in seven dismissals against Zimbabwe in Harare in a Test match held in 2004. Interestingly, Mahum hit a half-century (61) in the second innings but was dismissed for only six runs in the first innings.
