Liverpool line-ups vs Brighton as Trey Nyoni and Bradley Barcola decisions made

Liverpool will hope to build on the confidence of the midweek Champions League win over Villarreal when they resume Premier League hostilities this afternoon against Brighton. Andoni Iraola's side are looking for a fourth successive triumph in all competitions having won away at LASK and at Brentford in the top flight in recent games.

Liverpool beat Brighton twice at home last season but were beaten on the South Coast on their last meeting in March, with the Seagulls having started the campaign strongly to stand ahead of Iraola's side in the table.

But how should the Reds line up for what is likely to be a difficult occasion? Our ECHO writers take a look...

Having made more than a handful of changes on Tuesday night, I expect the big guns to return this afternoon at Anfield.

That means Alexander Isak leads the line and Florian Wirtz starts in the number 10 position.

At the back, Ronald Araujo starts on the right as Virgil van Dijk partners Jeremy Jacquet and Milos Kerkez returns on the left.

With Dominik Szoboszlai still injured, this is the ideal time to restore Ryan Gravenberch into his deeper role alongside Alexis Mac Allister.

Rio Ngumoha starts in place of the injured Victor Munozand Bradley Barcola returns.

My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Araujo, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Ngumoha, Wirtz, Barcola; Isak.

It has been Brighton breezy so far this season for the South Coast side, who have been tearing it up in the Premier League with the amount of goals they have been scoring.

Matters, then, won't be easy for a Liverpool side who haven't enjoyed home games in the league for a good while. What, then, is Reds boss Andoni Iraola to do?

There will be more rotation, but perhaps not as much as in recent games given there have been five days since the Villarreal clash.

Indeed, there should be just one change in defence. Milos Kerkez returns at left-back, with Ronald Araujo continuing at right-back, Jeremy Jacquet partnering skipper Virgil van Dijk at centre-back and Alisson Becker staying in goal.

In midfield, Trey Nyoni has done enough to keep his place alongside Alexis Mac Allisterat the base, with Florian Wirtz back in as the number 10.

And while Rio Ngumoha continues on the right of the attack, Alexander Isak comes in down the middle and Bradley Barcola is on the left.

My team (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Araujo, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Nyoni, Mac Allister; Ngumoha, Wirtz, Barcola; Isak.
