Magic Johnson Shows Class After Comedian Calls Him Michael Jordan

Magic Johnson had a perfect and classy response when comedian Gerald Huston deliberately mistook him for Michael Jordan in a hilarious interaction.

Huston, who has made a habit of approaching famous people and confidently calling them by the wrong names, spotted Johnson and decided to continue the bit. Instead of acknowledging the five-time champion as Magic Johnson, Huston called him Michael Jordan and spoke about Jordan’s six titles.

Johnson immediately understood what was happening and didn’t appear bothered whatsoever, smilingly saying, “Yes, sir, yes, sir, that’s my boy.”

It was a rather funny moment from Huston’s ongoing routine. He has previously approached Wanda Durant and called her LeBron James’s mother, while he also jokingly mistook Anthony Edwards for Kevin Durant.

The interactions aren’t meant as disrespect to anyone. The entire joke revolves around confidently getting the identity of someone famous completely wrong, and Johnson’s reaction made this particular interaction even better.

Rather than correcting Huston, questioning why he had been called Jordan, or confronting him, Magic simply laughed and played along in his charismatic style and used the opportunity to show love to his longtime friend and former rival.

Johnson has never been shy about his admiration for Jordan.

That relationship was on full display in the NBA’s 75th anniversary celebration at the 2022 All-Star Game, when Dwayne Wade recalled how Jordan’s arrival completely changed the atmosphere in a room with basketball legends.

We all remember watching Jordan and Johnson immediately start talking to each other. The hilarious exchange eventually went viral, with Jordan challenging Magic to a pickup game.

That friendship has been forged through years of competitive battles.

Johnson once recalled learning exactly what would happen when someone decided to provoke Jordan during a team practice. With Magic’s team leading 12-2, Johnson decided to talk some trash.

It didn’t work out that well for Magic.

According to Johnson, Jordan immediately responded by knocking down consecutive three-pointers before taking over the practice. Magic later joked it was the first and only time he ever trash-talked Michael Jordan. Johnson also recalled a time when Jordan announced to the NBA legends that there was a new sheriff in town and that the league now belonged to him.

Decades later, that respect clearly hasn’t disappeared.

Magic Johnson could have easily corrected Huston when called by the wrong NBA legend. Instead, he laughed it off and immediately referred to Jordan as “my boy.”

For a joke built around intentionally confusing one legend for another, Magic could not have handled it much better.
