Following a measured and relatively even opening stanza, the emerging Russian pawed with a jab that captured Adesanya’s attention before coming over the top with a right hand that took the legs out from underneath the former two-time champion. While Adesanya tried to recover and defend himself, Imavov pounced and pounded out the finish.

Just an outstanding performance for the surging “Sniper,” who has now won four straight and injected himself into the thick of the title conversation in the 185-pound weight class. For Adesanya, it’s a third straight setback and second consecutive stoppage loss, leaving many to wonder what is next and what is left for “The Last Stylebender.”

But the night belonged to Imavov, who has now won four bouts in the last 12 months to cement his standing as a serious title threat in the 185-pound ranks.
