Man Utd news: Sir Jim Ratcliffe steps in over Michael Carrick as sack plan revealed

Michael Carrick's Manchester United future hangs by a thread following his team's 3-0 hammering by Bournemouth on Sunday. Strikes from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson delivered the Red Devils a third loss in four matches and stretched their winless run to eight fixtures across all competitions.
This has intensified scrutiny on Carrick, who may lose his job as a result, with United claiming victory in just two of their 12 matches this season. They have slipped to 16th in the Premier League table, having secured seven points from a potential 24, and haven't won in the top flight since defeating Ipswich in August.
Speaking after the match, Carrick appeared disheartened and was uncertain whether he would be in the dugout for United's trip to Chelsea next Saturday. Meanwhile, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have both urged United to dismiss Carrick after the club tumbled to another loss and dropped to within one point of the drop zone.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe accelerates sack plan
Manchester United's board are now expected to expedite the process of appointing a new head coach, with club insiders suggesting Carrick will be dismissed, according to Sky Sports.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and United chiefs believe a change is necessary to transform the club's fortunes, with former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann and ex-Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe the frontrunners.
However, the verdict on who will succeed Carrick is set to rest with director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada, who will present a recommendation to co-owner Ratcliffe.

Rhodri Giggs, the brother of Manchester United icon Ryan, has unleashed an X-rated assault on Gary Neville amid the club's deepening crisis. Following their defeat against Bournemouth, Rhodri, 49, turned his fury towards Neville and United's ownership, accusing the former England defender of failing to hold Sir Jim Ratcliffe to account.
In an explosive post on X, he wrote: "Gary Neville you're an absolute w****r. Prime Pep couldn't get a tune out of this lot. Call your mate Jim [Ratcliffe] out who got us into this mess further.
"The owners are parasites and don't have a clue."
