Man Utd’s top five scorers against Fulham, including Sir Bobby Charlton

Manchester United’s top goalscorers list against Fulham contains multiple club legends.

Ahead of the September-October international break, Manchester United travel to Fulham looking to get back to winning ways. It bodes well that the Cottagers have yet to win a Premier League match since the 2026/27 campaign kicked off.

Michael Carrick’s side have managed just two wins thus far this season, and there is pressure mounting over his job as a result. He will be looking to start a winning run on the road this Sunday.

That means scoring more goals than we concede – a task this side has struggled with this term. Here’s a look at United’s top goalscorers against Fulham.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that United’s record scorer, Wayne Rooney, has the best goalscoring record against Fulham. The former United and England captain faced Fulham 20 times across all competitions, scoring 12 goals.

Rooney completed a brace in United’s Premier League opening day blitz against Fulham, winning 5-1 to kickstart a title-winning 2006/07 season. Other key moments in the league include a match-winner at Craven Cottage in 2013 to give Sir Alex Ferguson’s side a 10-point lead at the top of the table, and scoring both goals in a 2-0 win during the 2010 title push.

Rooney’s record against Fulham as a United player will take some beating. None of the current players are close.

Just two goals shy of Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy has the highest goals-per-game ratio on the list, scoring 10 goals in as many matches versus Fulham.

On his Premier League debut for United, Van Nistelrooy endeared himself to the Old Trafford faithful by scoring two goals in three minutes. One of Van Nistelrooy’s most iconic goals came in a 3-0 win over Fulham in 2003, when the ex-Netherlands international scored all three goals. It was his second finish – following an amazing solo run through Fulham’s defence – that stood out.

A year later, Van Nistelrooy scored the winner in a 1-0 FA Cup semi-final win against Fulham at Villa Park. The Reds went on to beat Millwall in the final at Wembley.

With 10 goals against Fulham, Sir Bobby Charlton would’ve enjoyed many games against the Cottagers.

However, none of them were more emotional than the 1958 FA Cup semi-final at Highbury – seven weeks on from the Munich Air Disaster.

United won the replay 5-3 to secure a place at Wembley, with the team led by Sir Matt Busby’s assistant Jimmy Murphy. Charlton went on to enjoy many more meetings with Fulham over the years.

Is Shea Lacey the answer for Man Utd right now or does Carrick have to be wary about putting pressure on him?

David Herd was one of United’s most prolific forwards in the 1960s. Unfortunately for Fulham, they proved to be among his favourite opponents. He scored nine goals in 13 appearances against the Cottagers during his time at Old Trafford.

This included a hat-trick display in 1965 and a double months later in the same season.

Cristiano Ronaldo boasts a 9-2-2 record against Fulham, scoring 7 goals in the process.

That includes a brace during his 2007/08 Ballon d’Or-winning campaign, a solo goal in the previous season that led to a crucial win in United’s Premier League title charge.

One of Ronaldo’s most memorable goals against Fulham was his volley at the far post in a 5-1 hammering as he formed an elite attacking partnership with Rooney.
