Max Caster apologizes after being fired by TNA for offensive rap

TNA Wrestling held its biggest event of the year this past weekend with Bound for Glory. The event featured at least one prominent new arrival: former AEW star “Platinum” Max Caster. But his arrival quickly turned to dust following a rap lyric gone bad.

Caster’s character is built around a rap that disses his opponents as he walks to the ring. His personality and charisma helped his team, Anthony Bowens, rise to AEW Tag Team Champions as The Acclaimed. But at times, his lyrics toed the line, if not crossed it altogether. Many of his songs went viral, including ones that referenced troubled WWE chairman Vince McMahon. But in 2021, he was reportedly suspended for lyrics about Simone Biles and the Duke lacrosse case.

AEW let both Caster and Bowens leave the company as their momentum stalled amid a number of new arrivals. Unfortunately for Caster and TNA, he went too far once again on his first night in the company.

Debuting on the pay-per-view event, Caster taunted Moose with the line, “I drop bombs, you don’t even have to fly to Riyadh.” It was a reference to missile attacks that have killed at least 14 people in the Saudi Arabian capital.

Platinum Max Caster has arrived to the Impact Zone.

The day after, TNA released a statement saying it had removed the video from all replays and social channels and that Caster would no longer work with the company.

On Tuesday, Max Caster issued his own statement. He posted a video on his social media page apologizing for the lyrics and thanking TNA for the opportunity to perform.

“I wanna say thank you to Carlos Silva. I talked to him in person. He was very generous, very professional, even after all this stuff happened. And I understand why he did what he did. It’s his show. He’s got to protect TNA, and I went too far for him. So, I want to apologize to him and everybody else in the office. I want to apologize to anyone who vouched for me to get that spot. I feel like I let those people down,” Caster said.

“For anybody who’s offended, I just want everybody to know that when I do these raps, it’s never to offend people. It’s only to entertain. So, in my mind, it’s entertainment value first. And then if you’re offended by it, that’s your right. So I can’t apologize for anyone being offended, but just know that it’s not my intention to make people upset. If it gets a reaction, I think I did my job.”

Caster said he accepted his firing and is hopeful he can move forward with his career. He has always pushed the envelope with his wrestling character, and this time he surely knows it went too far. Hopefully the lesson serves him well wherever he goes next.

“The consequences of everything, I’m accepting that. I can accept the facts of that. And then, to anybody who is asking if I’m good, I’m good. I’m just embarrassed how all this happened. You don’t want it to be one match, and then that’s it, you get fired. But again, that’s the reality of the situation. I’m accepting it, and that’s life. And in life, sometimes you’ve got to man up and just accept it and move on,” the wrestler stated.
