Max vs 100: 30 Laps, 100 Rivals And Max Verstappen Starting Last — Can The F1 Legend Pull This Off?

Max vs 100 Latest: Max Verstappen is never really one to stay inside the lines. While most Formula 1 drivers remain focused on the demands of the F1 calendar, the four-time world champion has repeatedly looked for ways to test himself away from the familiar surroundings of a Grand Prix weekend. His latest challenge is perhaps his most outrageous yet, Verstappen will take on 100 rival go-karters at Silverstone on Wednesday, starting from the very back of a 101-kart grid and attempting to pass every single competitor in just 30 laps.
The entire setting makes the spectacle even bigger. Silverstone is one of the most famous circuits in the F1 calendar and the home race venue of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. But Verstappen will not be driving an F1 car this time. Instead, he will return to the form of racing where it all began, with the Max vs 100 challenge coming just months after he threw himself into the deep end of endurance racing at the Nürburgring. It is another example of what separates Verstappen from many of his F1 rivals… the Dutchman simply does not seem to switch off from racing.
The challenge is brutally simple: Verstappen starts 101st and last, with 100 drivers ahead of him and only 30 laps to hunt them down. The field includes content creators, Red Bull athletes, fans, journalists and other invited competitors, while every driver gets identical machinery.

Verstappen knows exactly what is at stake. “It would be quite embarrassing if I don’t beat them,” he said, while admitting that overtaking 100 drivers in 30 laps will be far from straightforward.
Verstappen’s willingness to race outside F1 is nothing new. In May, he made his Nürburgring 24 Hours debut with his own Verstappen Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, sharing the car with Lucas Auer, Jules Gounon and Dani Juncadella. His team led the race by more than 30 seconds with around three hours remaining, but a driveshaft failure ended their hopes of victory. The car eventually finished classified 38th after returning to the track.
Verstappen’s own stints were a major part of the charge, including a crucial overtake for the lead during the night.
The Max vs 100 event takes place at Silverstone on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The live broadcast begins at 5 PM BST (9:30 PM IST), with the race scheduled to start at 6 PM BST (10:30 PM IST). Verstappen will start from the back and must overtake the 100 drivers ahead of him, with each rival eliminated once passed.
The challenge is tailor-made for Verstappen’s aggressive racing instincts, but traffic, defensive driving and the ticking clock could make those 30 laps very different from a normal F1 race.
For all the experimentation away from Formula 1, Verstappen remains one of the sport’s biggest stars and finished second at the Spanish Grand Prix on September 13. His next F1 appearance comes at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku on September 26.
