MLB power rankings: Rolling toward the postseason

The Giants hardly rolled over this weekend. The Padres still found a way to roll through San Francisco, pushing their win streak to seven games as they head to Coors Field for a four-game series with a team barreling toward a fourth straight 100-loss season.
Who knows what’s in store for them in that house of horrors, but they travel to Denver with a 2½-game lead on the Diamondbacks and the Cubs and Phillies suddenly within reach (they are tied for the top wild-card spot, 1½ games ahead of the Padres).
As such, the Padres’ postseason odds are up to 77% at Fangraphs.com, their highest during this post-All-Star-break surge.
“I think the guys, we have the ability to turn it up a little bit,” Padres manager Craig Stammensaid. “At least the focus. And turning up focus doesn’t necessarily mean, like, playing well and winning games. It’s hard to win games. But I think the focus, the attention to detail, has been turned up. … We’ve played good baseball, and we’ve won quite a few games here lately. So it’s a good time to get on a good run, and hopefully that carries us on the rest of the year.”
