MMA legend with a 2-2 UFC record vows to earn a shot at Alexander Volkanovski after UFC 333

Patricio Pitbull doesn’t want to finish his career without sharing the cage with Alexander Volkanovski.
The featherweight champion continued to enhance his legacy by recording another successful title defense at UFC 333.
Saturday’s event in Abu Dhabi concluded with Volkanovski’s knockout win over Movsar Evloev, who entered his shot at the 38-year-old fan favorite with a perfect 20-0 record.
After taking the Russian’s undefeated status, the Australian may target one last dance against a fellow legend in Justin Gaethje. But another all-time great has made his pitch for a showdown with the 145-pound king.
Things have not gone to plan for Patricio Pitbull through four fights under the UFC banner so far.
The former two-division Bellator champion has lost to Yair Rodriguez and Aaron Pico inside the Octagon, delaying his plan for a late-career rise to a title on MMA’s biggest stage.
Last time out, however, the Brazilian delivered his best display inside the Octagon to date. Pitbull knocked out Dooho Choi at UFC 331 in September to prove that he has plenty left in the tank.
The 39-year-old now plans to start his first winning streak in the promotion and, after seeing Saturday’s UFC 333 main event, has firmly set his sights on an all-legend clash with Volkanovski.
“Congratulations to @alexvolkanovski on the record and great fight. I’ll finish whoever the @ufc puts in front of me so we cross paths. #UFC333,” Pitbull wrote on X after the Australian’s latest title defense.
Pitbull has yet to have his next fight added to the calendar, and he might be in a race against time when it comes to earning an opportunity to joust with ‘Alexander the Great’.
Dana White has supported Volkanovski’s call for a fight against Gaethje, which could turn out to be a double retirement matchup in 2027.
