Nasser Hussain's Hilarious AI-Generated 1980s Makeover Steals the Show

During the opening day of the final Test match between England and Pakistan at Edgbaston, former England captain Nasser Hussain shared a humorous moment while reacting to a viral trend on social media that features AI-generated retro makeovers from the 1980s.

This new trend, known as the AI 1980s retro trend, has captivated social media users, allowing them to transform contemporary photos into vintage styles reminiscent of the decade. Participants typically ask, 'What would I have looked like in the 80s?' and AI does the rest.

Celebrities, including pop icons, Hollywood stars, and cricket analysts, have embraced this trend, and Hussain was no exception, showcasing his own AI-generated transformation that gave him a striking 1980s appearance.

As the match commenced with Pakistan batting first, Hussain, part of the Sky Sports commentary team, humorously examined how his fellow commentators were reimagined through AI.

In a video shared by Sky Cricket that quickly gained traction on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), Hussain was seen laughing in the studio before presenting the amusing AI-generated images live. He guided viewers through the gallery, playfully teasing his colleagues, including Stuart Broad, Eoin Morgan, Ian Ward, and Mark Butcher.

Hussain saved his own transformation for last, revealing a stylized portrait where he resembled a muscular action star from an 80s film. He humorously remarked, 'And then the absolute best. Look at the guns on that—how sharp; look at the hair. What happened to me, seriously?'

Hussain's amusing reaction to his AI-generated 1980s look has ignited a flurry of responses on social media, especially on X, where fans and cricket lovers eagerly joined in on the fun.

Many users praised Hussain's comedic take and commented on his retro avatar. One fan described the moment as 'absolutely brilliant,' highlighting his 'guns,' while another called him 'the best commentator.'

Conversely, some fans humorously critiqued the AI makeover, with one asking, 'Hair extension on top of hair extension?' and another comparing Hussain's look to Patrick Swayze in 'Road House.'

On the field, Pakistan was dismissed for 133 runs in 33.5 overs, with Saud Shakeel being the standout performer, scoring 43 runs. England's bowlers, including Josh Tongue, Jofra Archer, and Ollie Robinson, dominated the innings.

By the end of Day 1, England had scored 156 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 39 overs, with vice-captain Harry Brook and Dan Lawrence at the crease, contributing 52 and 5 runs, respectively, leading by 23 runs over Pakistan's first innings.
