NBA fans make fun of ‘corniest superstar’ Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for latest Instagram message

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s latest Instagram caption has gone viral on X, but the reactions aren’t exactly great.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the back-to-back reigning NBA MVP. In 2025, he led the Oklahoma City Thunder to their first-ever championship, being named Finals MVP in the process.

There is no doubting the superstar’s scoring prowess or how unstoppable his game is. Off the court, though, he has quite a few ‘haters’.

While Gilgeous-Alexander hasn’t done anything wrong, he is guilty of being a little corny at times. And that’s exactly what fans are calling him out for after his recent post.

To SGA’s credit, the superstar is often unfazed by any of the noise around him. He is absolutely locked in to the task at hand, and rarely pays any attention to his detractors.

This doesn’t stop them, though. And after he captioned his recent Instagram post with, “Idk why they call it the off season bc I still haven’t taken a season off,” they were out in full force on X.

“Ahhh adding a new arsenal of ‘baits’ to your bag I see,” one fan hilariously commented. “Bro is the corniest superstar ever,” another fan added.

“Wow, dude really thought he cooked with that, huh?” a third fan replied to the post. “Somehow, SGA got free throws after writing that caption,” another dig at the Thunder star read.

“Bro def texts Drake for his IG posts,” one fan said, dissing Canadian rapper Drake in the process too. “Corniest dude in the league, bar none. Born to live in Oklahoma City,” a sixth fan wrote.

Gilgeous-Alexander does most of his talking on the court, and he does it well. Considering how cliché this one was, though, it’s hard to blame his haters for not passing up an easy layup.
