NCHSAA girls’ tennis, Carolina volleyball pairings released

Both Bladen County girls’ tennis teams qualified for the N.C. High School Athletic Association dual team playoffs, according to pairings released Friday, Oct. 9.

The Carolina Conference announced its volleyball tournament schedule that has East Bladen as the top seed.

In tennis, East Bladen (3-4) is seeded No. 7 and scheduled to host No. 10 Rosewood (6-13) on Monday, Oct. 12 in a first-round match in the 2A bracket. The winner will advance to play the winner between No. 2 Manteo and No. 15 Henderson Collegiate.

In 3A, 17th-seeded West Bladen (0-10) is matched against No. 16 Heide Trask (0-8) in a match set for Monday, Oct. 12. The winner will play at No. 8 North Moore.

In volleyball, East Bladen drew a first-round bye in the seven-team, single elimination tournament and will play the winner between No. 4 West Columbus and No. 5 Hobbton in the semifinals.

No. 5 Hobbton (7-10, 3-9 Carolina) at No. 4 West Columbus (4-12, 4-8 Carolina), 6 p.m.

No. 6 Lakewood (7-8, 4-8 Carolina) at No. 3 East Columbus (12-4, 9-3 Carolina), 6 p.m.

No. 7 Union (2-15, 1-11 Carolina) at No. 2 North Duplin (13-5, 10-2 Carolina), 6 p.m.

At Lakewood High School, Salemburg

No. 1 East Bladen (16-6, 11-1 Carolina) vs. Hobbton-West Columbus winner, 5 p.m.

East Columbus-Lakewood winner vs. North Duplin-Union winner, 7 p.m.

At Lakewood High School, Salemburg

Semifinal winners, 6 p.m.

The NCHSAA volleyball pairings are slated to be released Thursday, Oct. 15 with first round games set for Saturday, Oct. 17. East Bladen and West Bladen will receive berths in the state playoffs.
