Nets' Egor Demin optimistic to return soon following injury scare

The Nets star Egor Demin is feeling fine after his early exit against Boston and is hopeful to return in the near future.
Nets' Egor Demin optimistic to return soon following injury scare

The Brooklyn Nets haven’t had a strong start to the season, going 0-4 in their opening games.

But this isn’t much of a surprise, given that the team is in the midst of a rebuild and has plenty of young talent, with Egor Demin among them.

Demin, who was drafted by Brooklyn with the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, has been looking to build on his solid rookie campaign, one in which he averaged 10.3 points on a commendable 39.9 percent shooting from the field.

But the Russian hasn’t seen the same success in the early matches of the year, shooting on 31 percent accuracy to the tune of 7.8 points per night, and on Tuesday night, he faced a scare.

Against the Boston Celtics, Demin suffered from a right knee contusion which prompted him to leave the match early.

But it appears that the Nets faithful are in luck.

Egor Demin on his leg injury: “It’s nothing serious. I’ll be ready to go… I just got kneed in the muscle/bone area… Now it feels better. I think I’ll be ready in a couple of days.” https://t.co/9II4h4n4z2

Following the Nets’ overtime loss, Demin spoke to the media, explaining that his injury isn’t anything serious, while providing a glimpse at when he could return.

“It’s nothing serious, I’ll be ready to go…” stated the second-year guard. “I think I’ll be ready in a couple of days.”

Given the vague timeline set by Demin, it’s not known if he’ll suit up on Friday night, when Brooklyn is set to take on the Detroit Pistons for their opening match of the NBA Cup.

If he can’t play, Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez will have a few options to fill the role left by the Russian, including rookie Mikel Brown Jr., who put up an impressive 17 points against Boston.
