‘Not mad at all...’ New York Knicks fans support surprising signing to help replace Mitchell Robinson

The New York Knicks are making some roster moves ahead of the new NBA season, and one signing has surprisingly garnered fan support.
The Knicks lost key pieces over the summer following their miraculous 2026 NBA championship, with Mitchell Robinson being the most notable name.
While the franchise signed Andre Drummond to replace the recently departed Robinson, they have also landed one more player to plug the gap.
According to New York Knicks reporter Ian Begley, Drew Eubanks has signed with the franchise on a training camp deal.
This gives the former San Antonio Spurs star an opportunity to earn a minimum contract with the franchise ahead of the new season.
SNY sources: big man Drew Eubanks is signing with the Knicks on a camp deal and will be competing for a roster spot.
Eubanks spent last season with the Sacramento Kings, where he averaged 5.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks across 42 games.
Despite his limited numbers, many Knicks fans were happy about the signing, suggesting that he could provide strong minutes on an affordable contract.
One fan wrote, “Eubanks would be a solid backup.” Another fan added, “As a third string backup. Not mad at all. Let’s run this season back.”

A third fan expressed confidence in the signing, suggesting, “Towns-Drummond-Eubanks is a decent five-spot rotation. The offense takes a hit when KAT sits, but they have 12 fouls to give.”
“You know what….I’m not mad at it. Preseason is going to be interesting,” wrote a fourth fan who was encouraged by the pickup.
However, not everyone was as supportive, with one fan saying, “wouldn’t be a fan of this signing.”
And lastly, one Knicks fan wished Eubanks well for a key reason: “Hopefully he makes the team because I just want them to have a third center.”
Eubanks could be relied upon the same way Ariel Hukporti was in the playoffs, who came in and provided valuable minutes for the Knicks in multiple series.
By no means was Hukporti considered a game-changer, but his ability to box out, rebound, and set screens proved pivotal in multiple games for the Knicks.
Eubanks will be hoping that the Knicks are impressed with his performance in training camp and preseason games, and offer him a full-time contract.
