Orrell St James Fireworks Night set to return bigger and brighter after another year of community success

Fresh from the success of this summer's Party on the Pitch 2026, organisers at Orrell St James ARLFC are preparing for the return of their annual Fireworks Night, promising a bigger, brighter and even more spectacular event for local families.
Now entering its second year, the event follows the hugely successful inaugural fireworks display, which attracted families from across Orrell, Pemberton, Billinge, Winstanley and the wider Wigan borough.
This year's event aims to build on that success, offering an affordable night of entertainment at a time when many families continue to face significant financial pressures.
Like Party on the Pitch, Fireworks Night is about far more than simply putting on an event. It is about bringing the community together and creating opportunities for local families to enjoy a safe, welcoming and memorable evening close to home.
For generations, Orrell St James ARLFC has provided a positive environment where young people can make friends, stay active, learn valuable life skills and feel part of something bigger than themselves.
The club currently supports hundreds of boys and girls through its junior and youth sections, providing opportunities that extend far beyond rugby league.
Every ticket purchased for Fireworks Night helps support that work, helping to fund facilities, equipment, coaching, volunteer development and community programmes that benefit local young people throughout the year.
A club spokesperson said:
“Visitors can look forward to a spectacular fireworks display, live music, fairground attractions, food and drink vendors and the friendly community atmosphere that has become synonymous with events at Orrell St James.
“Following the success of Party on the Pitch 2026, which was described by organisers as a roaring success and a celebration of everything positive about the local community, the club hopes Fireworks Night will once again bring people together while helping secure the future of grassroots rugby league in the area.
“For one evening, the skies above Orrell will light up. But the impact of the event will continue long afterwards, helping ensure that local children and families have a thriving community club at the heart of the area for years to come.”
Orrell St James Fireworks Night returns on Saturday November 7.
