OU Fans Welcome Back College Football

College football is back, and Oklahoma fans wasted little time showing their excitement.
The Sooners opened their season against UTEP, bringing fans back to campus for the first game of the year. For many, the return of football was about more than the game itself — it was a chance to celebrate the traditions, pride and anticipation that come with an OU gameday.
“Crimson and cream,” OU fan Todd Bowling said, describing the colors that represent the Sooners.
Tammy Miller said her connection to the university runs deep.
“I’m Sooner born. I’m Sooner bred. When I die, I’ll be Sooner dead,” Miller said.
Fans said the atmosphere surrounding the season opener was difficult to put into words.
“I’m pumped up. I’m ready to go,” young fan Owen said.
Others described their feelings with a single phrase: “Boomer Sooner.”
The excitement extended to expectations for the team. Fans said they believe the Sooners have the talent to make a deep postseason run, with some already talking about a possible national championship.
Bowling said he is especially optimistic about the team’s revamped offense and its defense.
“I’m feeling so good about this team right now,” Bowling said. “Our revamped offense. Are tough as nails. Best in the SEC defense.”
For fans, however, the season opener was simply a chance to have football back.
“I’m feeling amazing. It’s been so long since we have football. Hey, it’s back, baby,” OU fan Corey Alexander said.
And while the season is only beginning, expectations are already high.
“National championship,” Bowling said.
For Oklahoma fans, the message was clear: The wait is over, and the Sooners are ready to get started.
“Boomer Sooner, baby. Let’s go.”
