Oundle top and unbeaten after late surge, plus rugby union results and fixture round-up

However they left it late once again before pulling away in the final quarter to earn a 36-22 win.

Oundle second row Shay Kerry scored a try against his old club in the fifth minute, but shortly after Canterbury took the lead with a converted try of their own.

The home side were further hampered when fly half Jamie Annand was sin binned for what was adjudged to be a technical offence.

Canterbury went further ahead with a penalty in the 25th minute, but Oundle continued to dominate and prolific try scorer Grant Snelling touched down to make it 10-10 at the break.

Early in the second-half centre Cormack Calnan converted his own try and, after several changes being made by both sides, Calnan crossed again.

in the dying seconds replacement winger Frankie Sleightholme gathered a cross field kick to complete the scoring.

Disappointingly Oundle’s second team were awarded a walkover when Daventry pulled out of an opening Counties 1 Midlands fixture.
