Padel facility plan for Ruthin sports complex

A planning application has been submitted to Denbighshire County Council, seeking to transform part of an established sports complex in Ruthin into a new padel facility. Mr and Mrs Tom and Amy Edmunds of Padel View Ltd have submitted the application to the council’s planning department wanting to erect three covered outdoor padel courts at the Llanfwrog Community Association complex.
The site on Mwrog Street currently operates as a community centre with six tennis courts, one golf driving range, one nine-hole foot golf course, five youth/junior football pitches, a crown bowling green, and a community hall and café. According to the application, the plans for the new padel courts will create two full-time jobs.
A planning statement said: “The proposal forms part of the continued investment in an already well-established community sports and recreation complex which has developed over many years into one of Denbighshire's principal destinations for organised sport, recreation, and community activities. “The application seeks to broaden the range of facilities available to existing users whilst attracting new participants to one of the fastest growing sports in the United Kingdom.” Neighbours are yet to be consulted.
The plans will likely be discussed at a future Denbighshire County Council planning committee meeting at the authority’s Ruthin County Hall HQ.
