Piers Morgan slams double standard over Sophie Cunningham in WNBA transgender debate

Sophie Cunningham has had her fair share of critics, but Piers Morgan is not one of them.

It’s safe to say that Sophie Cunningham’s outspoken comments on protecting biological women in sports have kickstarted something big in the WNBA. Her stance earned her praise from high-profile figures as a courageous voice, but Enes Kanter has faced a different reaction for pushing the same core message.

Kanter, who declared himself eligible for the WNBA draft and wore biological apparel at games, has been widely villainized. Critics and the league dismissed his actions as publicity stunts, leading to arena bans and accusations of mocking women’s sports rather than constructively defending them.

Which is something that WNBA star Natasha Cloud seemed to take offence to.

Sophie Cunningham has become a role model for young kids in the WNBA, regardless of her political beliefs, as fans up and down the country don her shirts and turn up to games to watch her.

However, there has been some negativity toward the Indiana Fever star for her comments, which is something that Piers Morgan doesn’t agree with.

He believes that Natasha Cloud should have got some heat for the way she reacted and the comments she made, citing the double standards.

Morgan said: “What really annoys me is people like Sophie Cunningham who’ve been incredibly brave here by stating the bleeding obvious, that they’ve been attacked and vilified and so on. Whereas people like Natasha Cloud for taking you on and making big statements, she gets applauded, even know what you’re doing is trying to protect women’s sports.”

He’s not the only one who feels this way, as Enes Kanter has filed a lawsuit against the Chicago Sky for kicking him out of the stadium, with Cloud getting away without any punishment.
