PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP: Spartans celebrate seniors in home finales

Bonners Ferry 7, Priest River 1

PRIEST RIVER — Poster boards filled with pictures ranging from the entirety of four senior players' lives sat under a pop-up tent as the Priest River Spartans celebrated senior day on Saturday.

So naturally, the Spartans' two senior captains would team up to score the team's lone goal in an Intermountain League loss against Bonners Ferry. Senior star Daryan Haidari, who had one of the largest senior celebration displays, sent a ball to fellow senior captain Gunnar Petit, who finished off the goal.

Haidari and Petit have been the engine of the Spartans' offense, with Haidari totaling eight goals and Petit adding six. The Spartans also celebrated seniors Jonathan White and Ian Burress for their effort this season.

The four players have made the most of their senior seasons after they missed their junior years as Priest River was not able to field a team in 2025.

The loss dropped the Spartans to 2-6 overall and in league play on the season. Priest River had two games left following the loss, with their penultimate match at Timberlake being played on Tuesday.

The game did not finish before the Bee's print deadline, so a full recap of that match will appear in the Thursday print edition.

PRIEST RIVER — Similar festivities celebrate the Priest River girls' five seniors as they fell to the red-hot Bonners Ferry Badgers on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans notched a second-half goal in the Intermountain League loss. A full box score could not be collected by the Bee's print deadline.

Priest River celebrated seniors Vivian Savage, Rose-Marie Saunders, Macie Olmo, Lilly Kennedy and Tatum Grebe on Saturday.

Olmo has been one of the best soccer players in Bonner County this year, with 10 goals on 13 shots this year. The highlight of Olmo's season came against Kellogg on Sept. 7, where she scored four goals to lift her Spartans to a 5-3 victory. Kennedy has scored six goals as well, the third-most of any Spartan this season.

The loss dropped Priest River to 3-8-1 overall and in league play this season. A full recap of the Spartans' Tuesday game at Timberlake will run in the Thursday print edition of the Daily Bee.

Both Priest River teams will close out their regular seasons on Wednesday with a game at Coeur d'Alene Charter. The girls' game is set to start at 4 p.m., while the boys will play at 6:00 p.m.

Priest River head coach Danielle Carey poses for a picture with her seniors Vivian Savage, Rose-Marie Saunders, Macie Olmo, Lilly Kennedy and Tatum Grebe on Saturday at Priest River Junior High.
