Preview: Will Ladies Lacrosse Continue Perfect Start Against Durham?

The University of Nottingham Ladies Lacrosse 1s will look to continue their perfect start to the Premier North season when they welcome Durham to Jubilee Sports Centre.

If the Green and Gold weren’t over the heartbreak from losing last season’s National Championship final 12-10 to Exeter, Mike Armstrong’s side quickly banished those demons by putting Liverpool to the sword with a rampaging 28-0 shut-out victory on the opening day.

Although regaining their crown as National Champions is the priority for the team this season, UoN will also have their eyes on clinching a sixth straight Premier North crown.

A rematch of the 2024 National Championship final, which Durham won 13-8, this game is likely to be one of the toughest of Nottingham’s season.

Beyond that result, Durham have been the sole challenger to UoN’s dominance of the Premier North. They are the only team to have defeated the Green and Gold in league action since 2020, when in November 2024 UoN travelled up to the North-East and lost 8-7. The only other blemish on an otherwise perfect five-year streak was also at the hands of Durham, who clinched an 8-8 draw on a visit to Nottingham back in 2022.

With the league season likely coming down to the results between the two teams, UoN know that a win would cement their status as favourites to win the Premier North yet again and secure home advantage throughout their quest to the National Championship final.

Barring a complete shock, these two will be on different sides of the National Championship draw, meaning there is a distinct possibility that this game is a prelude to the final in Loughborough at BUCS Big Wednesday on 24th March.

Having started their season with a 10-5 victory over Nottingham Trent, Durham will be confident heading into this encounter. However, UoN’s record speaks for itself, and they will expect to earn three points and take a huge step towards yet another league crown.

When? Wednesday 21st October with Draw at 17:00
