Paris Saint-Germain defeated Barcelona 4-2, Liverpool staged a remarkable comeback to beat Villarreal 4-3, while Manchester City thrashed AEK Athens 5-1 in a dramatic night of UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday.

PSG scored three times in the second half to overcome Barcelona at the Parc des Princes, while Liverpool recovered from a two-goal deficit to secure victory at Anfield. Manchester City, meanwhile, were inspired by Phil Foden, who scored a hat-trick in their emphatic win over AEK Athens.

Napoli also edged Bodø/Glimt 4-3 in another seven-goal encounter, while Roma recorded a convincing 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund defeated Sabah 2-1, PSV Eindhoven beat Porto 1-0, and Fenerbahçe drew 2-2 with Slavia Prague. Stuttgart and Atlético Madrid also shared the points after a 1-1 draw.

PSG overcome Barcelona in six-goal thriller

Paris Saint-Germain maintained their winning run in the league phase with a 4-2 victory over Barcelona in an entertaining encounter in Paris.

Désiré Doué opened the scoring for the hosts in the 38th minute, but Barcelona drew level through Xavi Espart in the 55th minute.

PSG regained the lead when Lucas Hernández scored in the 72nd minute. Barcelona responded again, with Lamine Yamal finding the net in the 79th minute to make it 2-2.

The hosts, however, finished strongly, with Vitinha restoring their advantage in the 81st minute before Fabián Ruiz added a fourth four minutes later to seal the victory.

The result gave PSG their third consecutive win in the league phase, while Barcelona were left to rue their inability to contain the French side in the closing stages.

Liverpool fight back to defeat Villarreal

Liverpool produced one of the night’s most dramatic performances, coming from two goals down to defeat Villarreal 4-3 at Anfield.

Villarreal made a strong start, with Georges Mikautadze opening the scoring in the fourth minute before Sergi Cardona doubled the visitors’ lead in the 29th minute.

Liverpool responded through Alexis Mac Allister, who reduced the deficit in the 36th minute. Ronald Araújo then scored in first-half stoppage time to bring the hosts level.

Mac Allister struck again in the 65th minute to complete Liverpool’s comeback, while Florian Wirtz extended their advantage to 4-2 three minutes later.

Villarreal refused to give up, and Tani Oluwaseyi scored in the 87th minute to set up a tense finish. Liverpool, however, held on to claim all three points.

The victory extended Liverpool’s winning start to three matches in the league phase, although conceding three goals highlighted defensive issues the team may need to address.

Foden hat-trick inspires Manchester City

Phil Foden scored three goals as Manchester City cruised to a 5-1 victory over AEK Athens.

Elliot Anderson opened the scoring in the 12th minute, before Foden doubled City’s advantage in the 34th minute.

AEK reduced the deficit through Stavros Pilios in the 52nd minute, but Rayan Cherki restored City’s two-goal cushion five minutes later.

Foden then took charge, scoring in the 65th and 76th minutes to complete his hat-trick and secure a comfortable victory for the English side.

The result provided City with a boost following their previous Champions League defeat to PSG, while Foden’s performance underlined his importance to their attack.

McTominay brace helps Napoli edge Bodø/Glimt

Napoli claimed their first Champions League victory of the season after defeating Bodø/Glimt 4-3 in a thrilling contest.

Matteo Politano gave Napoli an early lead after just 53 seconds, but Jens Petter Hauge equalised for the Norwegian side.

Scott McTominay restored Napoli’s advantage in the 41st minute before Andreas Helmersen brought the visitors level again.

McTominay scored his second goal of the match with a header in the closing stages, while an own goal by Odin Bjørtuft further strengthened Napoli’s position.

Sondre Brunstad Fet scored for Bodø/Glimt to make it 4-3, but Napoli held on to secure the win.

Despite the victory, Napoli’s defensive display remained a concern after they conceded three goals.

Roma thrash Slovan Bratislava

Roma returned to winning ways with a commanding 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava.

Mario Hermoso opened the scoring with a close-range header before Nahuel Molina doubled the advantage after goalkeeper Dominik Takáč saved an effort from Donyell Malen.

Niccolò Pisilli added a third goal, while Malen converted a penalty to complete the scoring.

The victory gave Roma a timely response following their previous defeat to Real Madrid and provided encouragement ahead of their next league-phase fixture.

Borussia Dortmund secured a 2-1 victory over Sabah in Baku, with Serhou Guirassy scoring both goals for the German side.

Guirassy opened the scoring after goalkeeper Stas Pokatilov parried Felix Nmecha’s effort.

Sabah equalised before the interval through Aden McCarthy, who headed home from a Tymoteusz Puchacz free-kick.

Guirassy restored Dortmund’s lead early in the second half, finishing a move created by Joey Veerman to secure the victory.

PSV claim narrow win over Porto

PSV Eindhoven recorded a 1-0 away victory over Porto to secure their first win of the league phase.

Guus Til scored the decisive goal after Esmir Bajraktarević’s attempt struck the post, allowing the PSV forward to convert at the far post.

Porto pushed for an equaliser but could not find a way past the visitors’ defence.

The result gave PSV a valuable three points, while Porto were left frustrated after failing to capitalise on their opportunities.

Slavia Prague snatch draw against Fenerbahçe

Fenerbahçe surrendered an early two-goal lead as Slavia Prague fought back to secure a 2-2 draw in Istanbul.

Oğuz Aydın opened the scoring before Mason Greenwood added a second inside the opening 11 minutes.

Slavia responded through Lukáš Provod, whose goal reduced the deficit and gave the visitors renewed belief.

Fenerbahçe struggled to regain control, and substitute Pavel Kačor scored in the 90th minute to rescue a point for Slavia.

The late equaliser denied Fenerbahçe victory after their impressive start and capped a determined comeback by the visitors.

Atlético Madrid hold Stuttgart

Stuttgart and Atlético Madrid played out a 1-1 draw in Germany.

Jamie Leweling put Stuttgart ahead after the hosts had created several opportunities, but Atlético responded immediately after the interval.

Substitute Ademola Lookman set up Julián Álvarez, who finished into the top corner to restore parity.

Atlético subsequently had to contend with a numerical disadvantage following a straight red card for Morten Hjulmand. Stuttgart attempted to exploit the situation but could not find a winning goal.

Both sides ultimately settled for a point.

Champions League talking points

PSG and Liverpool maintained their winning starts with victories over Barcelona and Villarreal, respectively, while Manchester City produced an emphatic performance led by Foden’s hat-trick.

Napoli’s victory over Bodø/Glimt offered relief after their difficult start, although their defensive vulnerabilities remained evident. Roma also responded strongly with a four-goal win over Slovan Bratislava.

Dortmund and PSV collected important victories, while Slavia Prague’s late equaliser against Fenerbahçe and Atlético Madrid’s draw at Stuttgart added further drama to the evening.

Attention now turns to Wednesday’s fixtures as the league phase continues.
