Indiana Fever rookie Raven Johnson names the hardest player she has had to guard during practice.

The Indiana Fever selected Raven Johnson with the 10th overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft to add squad depth at the guard position.

In limited minutes this season, Johnson has averaged 3.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game for the Fever.

While Johnson may not have played a plethora of minutes during games, the rookie has certainly gotten a chance to practice regularly with the likes of Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston.

During a recent appearance on the ‘Post Moves’ podcast, the Fever rookie shared her honest opinion on the toughest player she has ever guarded on her team.

Many may have expected her to take Clark’s name, but Johnson chose Mitchell and explained her answer in detail.

“I had to guard like Kelsey Mitchell, and I’m like, ‘Bro, y’all want me to guard her?’ And in my head I’m like, ‘I got this.’ She hit me with an in-and-out; it’s hard to guard her.’

“You can’t guard her from the three; she got a quick first step. I’m like, ‘Yo, this girl is so good,'” Johnson said.

She added, “It was crazy. I thought that was the biggest adjustment for me. I went home. I told my mom. I said, ‘Mom, Kelsey Mitchell, I never guarded nobody like her.'”

Johnson made a name for herself as a star defender during her NCAA days, but even then, Mitchell’s skill set had her gasping for air.

It just shows how talented Mitchell really is as the Fever star just grabbed her back-to-back WNBA Player of the Month award for a stunning display in August 2026.
