Ravindra Jadeja struck his 16th first-class century on Monday, scoring 102 off 209 balls for Saurashtra against Chhattisgarh in their Ranji Trophy 2026-27 Group B match at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. The India national cricket team all-rounder hit seven fours and shared a crucial 205-run partnership with Prerak Mankad, who scored 129, as Saurashtra recovered from 151/4 to post 392 in their first innings.
The knock comes at an important point in Jadeja’s season, with India’s upcoming Test tour of New Zealand providing the next major assignment on the red-ball calendar. The 37-year-old showed patience to build his innings after Saurashtra lost wickets, but his stay ended soon after he reached three figures. In an unusual twist, Dharmendrasinh Jadeja caught and bowled his fellow Jadeja for 102. Watch the video of the Saurashtra star’s century and his latest Ranji Trophy outing.
Saurashtra were in need of a substantial partnership after slipping to 151/4. Jadeja and Mankad responded by putting together 205 runs for the fifth wicket, shifting the momentum back towards the hosts. Jadeja resumed the second day unbeaten on 72 and took 51 balls to complete his century. His innings gave Saurashtra a platform to push towards a competitive total, although the side were eventually bowled out for 392. Chhattisgarh’s Dev Aditya Singh led the bowling effort with figures of 5/67.
Jadeja’s century was built on patience rather than a flurry of boundaries. He faced 209 deliveries and struck seven fours, helping Saurashtra recover after the middle order came under pressure. The hundred was his 16th in first-class cricket and another reminder of his value in the longer format.
The innings also ended with an unusual piece of cricketing symmetry. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, who has previously been Jadeja’s Saurashtra teammate, took the return catch to dismiss him for 102. The moment added an unexpected twist to an otherwise composed innings.
For Jadeja, the innings offers valuable time in the middle before India’s upcoming Test assignment against New Zealand. Domestic cricket lets established internationals sharpen their skill set in match conditions, especially after a gap between red-ball fixtures.
Jadeja remains an important part of India’s Test plans, combining left-handed batting with left-arm spin. His century does not settle questions about team selection or guarantee future performances, but it gives him a timely boost as he builds towards the next challenge. Saurashtra, meanwhile, will look to carry the momentum from their recovery into the remainder of the contest against Chhattisgarh.
